The Frits Went Environmental Research Laboratory is a "new generation" controlled environment facility equipped to offer scientists the state-of-the art capability to address critical environmental issues such as global climatic change; stratospheric ozone depletion; air, land and water quality; hazardous waste management; ecosystem sustainability; and biodiversity.
The ability to maintain a known environment at a scale large enough to emulate real-world conditions provides scientists with a unique opportunity to design and conduct experiments aimed at increasing understanding of the biological, chemical, and physical processes that control the environment. The interdisciplinary focus of the facility's laboratories and controlled environments provides a unique research climate for scientists to work across traditional disciplines to solve existing and emerging environmental problems.
