Only six months into the effort, a very successful 1997-1998 Annual Fund has produced nearly $150,000 in donations and pledges for DRI=s new Northern Nevada Science Center (NNSC). The NNSC, DRI=s third major building in its 39-year history, is being constructed primarily with funds from the State of Nevada. However, another $1.2 million is needed to complete the building. To date, including the Annual Fund, nearly $375,000 has been raised in contributions and pledges toward the goal.

Good weather has helped keep construction of the Northern Nevada Science Center on schedule.

Construction of the NNSC continues to be on schedule; and when the building opens in late 1998, it will bring DRI faculty and staff from the Stead Science Center together with their colleagues at the Maxey Science Center. This proximity will allow DRI researchers to perform even more multidisciplinary research--something DRI is renowned for throughout the world.
